Dennis Mosher McDonald
We regret to announce that Dennis Mosher McDonald, age 81 of Belvedere, Ca., passed away in the early hours of February 27, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents John (Jack) McDonald and Ester Mosher McDonald, his sister Judith McDonald Bell and his brother-in-law Robert Allan Bell.
He is survived by his nephew Terry Bell and his wife Barbie Bell, his niece Wendi Flynn Bell, and his great nieces and nephews Keili Bell, Feliz Johnson, Jack McDonald Bell, and Henry Bell.
Dennis was born on April 11, 1940, in Oakland, Ca. He attended McChesney Junior High School and Oakland High School, where he graduated in 1958.
After a very brief stint in the military, Dennis attended San Francisco State University and received a master’s degree in economics in 1964. He then began a very successful career with Wells Fargo Bank in downtown San Francisco, where he formed lifelong friendships with his many colleagues.
Dennis was the ultimate bachelor and although never married, he was never alone. His loving and engaging personality paved the way for genuine friendships with people from all over the world. He was the Best Man, The Godfather, and The Great Uncle to an incredible number of people. His honest involvement in his friends’ lives earned him the title “Uncle Den” to almost all the young people he knew.
Dennis had several passions in life, including great food and wine, and most importantly, a life-long pursuit of reading and learning. He received his love of learning from his father and was always happy to share his books and knowledge with anyone who would listen. Dennis was a world traveler and with his friends and family visited dozens of countries all over the world. And as Dennis would do, he impressed people and formed friendships everywhere he went.
Dennis loved the town of Belvedere, where he lived for over 50 years. He was a fixture at Mike’s Place, where he would daily sit at the counter, reading his paper, discussing world events with friends and neighbors.
Dennis was deeply involved with many charities and organizations, especially those close to home. He was especially involved in the Belvedere-Tiburon Library.
Dennis was considered by all who knew him an “absolute classic” and an incredible human being. He was warm, loving and fun to be with. He was also a great listener and conversationalist with a wicked sense of humor. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
