Former mayor and longtime volunteer named Belvedere Citizen of the Year
It’s likely impossible to tally all the hours Bob McCaskill has dedicated to Belvedere and the surrounding community.
In addition to serving eight years on the City Council, including two yearlong stints as mayor, McCaskill is a member of the Tiburon Peninsula Traffic Relief Joint Powers Authority board and the Belvedere Finance Committee.
He’s also been on the boards of the Belvedere Community Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Bay and is currently on the board of the Ritter Center in San Rafael, which works with the unhoused population of Marin County.
“For me the most rewarding aspect of volunteering is knowing that you are helping others and helping the community in which you live,” McCaskill says.
McCaskill has been named Belvedere’s 2022 Citizen of the Year for the more than three decades of volunteer work he’s done on the Tiburon Peninsula.
He will be honored alongside Mel Owen, who was named Belvedere’s Citizen of the Year Emeritus, at the city’s annual town meeting, tentatively set for April.
