Kathy Agee

Longtime Tiburon resident Kathryn J. (Simitz) Agee passed away peacefully in Scottsdale, Arizona, on May 9, 2022, at the age of 93.

Kathy was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and went on to attend the University of Iowa. That is where she met her lifetime love, Ben W. Agee. They married in 1949 and celebrated 67 years together.

Kathy was a wonderful homemaker, raising her three children, Ben, Charlie, and Christy, as the family moved across Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota with Ben’s career advancements. Ben and Kathy continued their journey to Anchorage, Alaska, and the Bay Area when other career opportunities arose. They eventually enjoyed a long and active retirement in Tiburon, Palm Desert, and Scottsdale.

Kathy had many passions over the years, including boating with Ben, spending time in Hawaii, painting, long walks, tennis and golf, enjoying happy hour with a screwdriver cocktail, adoring her dogs, dancing to classic songs, her many friendships, and especially keeping up with her loving children and precious grandchildren.

We will remember Kathy’s amazing personality, boisterous laugh, loving smile, sense of humor, love for animals, and dedication to her husband, children and grandchildren.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Ben aka “Poppy,” and we are sure he had the most wonderful greeting waiting for her. A loving mother and grandmother, Kathy was known as “Kaki” to her grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her son Ben R. Agee, and spouse, Jeannie, of Reno, Nevada; granddaughters Ali and Mariah Agee; step-granddaughters Addie LaDuke, Sarah Latham and Erin Kosach; daughter Christy McMillan, and husband, Jeff, of Tucson, Arizona; grandson Matt McMillan and spouse, Sarah, and great-granddaughter, Tessa; granddaughter Laurel McMillan; son Charlie Agee and spouse, Gina, of Scottsdale, Arizona; granddaughter Brittany and spouse, Tom, great-granddaughter Sophie and grandson, Ben J. Agee. A private celebration of Kathy’s life will be held by her family.
