Police investigate antisemitic fliers distributed in Tiburon

Tiburon police are investigating antisemitic fliers distributed to at least 60 Paradise and Stewart drive homes Feb. 20, which added the town to a list of dozens across the nation reporting similar incidents in recent weeks. The fliers contain conspiracy theories blaming Jewish people for the COVID-19 pandemic and direct recipients to a Holocaust-denial website.

Police spokesperson Laurie Nilsen said the department has video footage from several residents that captured the fliers, placed in small plastic bags weighted down with rice, being thrown from a moving car, though she said it was difficult to tell from the footage if there were multiple vehicles.

The fliers, featuring a Star of David and a pentagram, make antisemitic statements related to the pandemic and name prominent Jewish officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and U.S. Health and Human Services, as well as White House advisers and officials at vaccine-manufacturers Pfizer and Moderna.

The fliers do not reference any local officials or contain threats of violence, and Nilsen said the homes that received them appeared to be chosen at random.
