Police: Tiburon teen robbed at gunpoint after car chase

Police say a Tiburon teenager was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight last weekend by a man who followed the boy back into town after the two had an argument.

Officers responded to a reported armed robbery on Gilmartin Drive at Tiburon Boulevard at 12:49 p.m. June 26. The 16-year-old told officers he and the suspect had a brief verbal exchange outside of Tiburon and that the suspect had tailed him into town in a gray Infiniti, at times driving about 100 mph on the wrong side of the road.

When the victim pulled over to the side of the road, the man allegedly approached him as he was seated in his vehicle, pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the boy and demanded his belongings before fleeing the scene.

The police description of the suspect was broad enough to include tens of thousands of Bay Area men.
