Reed district schools to end pandemic face-covering rule

Students in the Reed Union School District will be able to ditch their masks indoors beginning next week.


Superintendent Kimberly McGrath last week confirmed the district would align with updated state and county public-health guidance that moves from mandating to strongly recommending masks indoors at K-12 schools and child-care settings.


The policy, which goes into effect at 5 p.m. March 11, paves the way for students and teachers to go maskless in the classroom the following Monday, March 14, for the first time since Marin joined other Bay Area counties to issue the nation’s first pandemic stay-at-home order nearly two years ago.
