Reed Union School District: Peninsula candidates best Corte Madera hopeful

Voters in the Reed Union School District will elect incumbents Sherry Wangenheim and Afsaneh Zolfaghari and newcomer Shelby Pasarell Tsai to four-year terms on the district’s board of directors.

Zolfaghari, a stay-at-home parent with a background in public health, was the leading vote-getter in the four-way, pick-three contest. Wangenheim, a financial consultant, and Pasarell Tsai, who works as vice president of operations and business development for a real-estate development company, were just behind.

The three victors are all district parents and Tiburon Peninsula residents who ran as a slate against Sarah Buck-Gerber, who finished fourth. Buck-Gerber is an East Corte Madera resident who lives in Reed district boundaries but whose three children currently attend her neighborhood’s Cove School, in the Larkspur-Corte Madera School District, as part of a transfer program between the districts.
