Tamalpais Union High School District: Voters choose candidates with school board experience

Incumbents Kevin Saavedra and Cynthia Roenisch will retain their seats on the Tamalpais Union High School District board of trustees, where they will be joined by newcomer Emily Uhlhorn, who’s positioned to nab the third seat up for grabs in the six-way race on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Election 2022 coverage

Roenisch, a Kentfield resident who teaches at Alameda High School, was the top vote-getter in the pick-three contest. Uhlhorn, a current Mill Valley School District board member, and Saavedra, a financial adviser who lives in San Anselmo, were right behind.

All three winners touted their experience serving as school board members in their bids for election to the four-year seats and were generally aligned on priorities, including furthering the district’s diversity and inclusion work, addressing learning loss that resulted from the pandemic and ensuring the district remains financially stable amid declining enrollment.
