Tiburon, Belvedere get new watering rules amid drought

Tiburon and Belvedere residents can use their sprinklers only on Monday mornings and evenings under the latest drought restrictions imposed by the Marin Municipal Water District. Residents of Strawberry and unincorporated areas can spray irrigate only on Tuesdays.

The water district’s board of directors voted at its July 6 meeting to restrict spray irrigation in each community across its central and southern Marin service area to just one day a week as it looks to conserve water amid exceptional drought conditions.

Under previously enacted drought rules, spray irrigation had been limited to twice a week on non-designated days. Watering still must be done before 9 a.m. and after 7 p.m.
