Tiburon grants $51K each in pandemic funds to chamber, tourism agency

Tiburon is doling out more than $51,000 each to the local chamber of commerce and to tourism agency Destination Tiburon to help the organizations make up for lost hotel-tax revenue during the pandemic and ramp up their programs promoting local businesses and overnight stays.

The Town Council at its Sept. 21 teleconference meeting voted unanimously to allocate $51,848 to each agency out of the town’s $2.17-million share of federal coronavirus relief funding. However, in a 3-2 vote, the council rejected a separate request from Destination Tiburon for an additional grant of $207,474.
