Tiburon names 27-year San Mateo cop as town’s new chief of police


The town of Tiburon has hired a 27-year veteran of the San Mateo Police Department as its new chief of police after a four-month recruitment and selection process that involved input from town residents. Ryan Monaghan, who in San Mateo climbed the ranks to lieutenant in a force that serves about 30,000 people in the northwest section of the city, will begin his new post in Tiburon on April 5. He was one of 17 applicants for the position, which has been vacant for more than six months.
