The Tiburon Peninsula Little League All-Stars’ run came to an end July 20 with a heartbreaking 6-3 loss to Rincon Valley in the NorCal Section 1 championship final.

The 12-year-old boys had suffered their first loss of the season to Rincon Valley earlier in the week, falling 7-5 on July 15, which sent Rincon Valley to the championship but relegated Tiburon to the elimination bracket in the double-elimination tournament. They were able to hold on 3-2 the next night to knock out Alameda and secure their place in the championship round. A title-round loss to Rincon Valley would end their season, but a win would keep them alive and force a winner-take-all second game — which was exactly what the boys did in a 5-1 victory on July 19.
