Tiburon-S.F. commute-ferry service returns – and it’s direct

Direct ferry service between Tiburon and San Francisco resumed this week as the Golden Gate transportation district restored its regular weekday commuter runs, increasing the number of trips across the bay from four to 16.

The new schedule, which began Dec. 13, includes morning departures at 6:45 and 8 a.m. and evening arrivals at 4:05, 5:45 and 7 p.m. Those five trips are all aligned with the Marin Transit Route 219F shuttle that makes extra stops as it loops into Tiburon’s hills.

Tiburon residents celebrated the news as it was announced late last week.

“I am so excited about the direct service,” regular rider Matt Hochstetler said. “It’s terrific and will draw me back to the ferry. I’ve been driving but will move back.”
