Belvedere parent, community volunteer steps onto Reed Union School District board


Afsaneh Zolfaghari first set her sights on joining the Reed Union School District board of trustees a few years ago, when her daughter, Zoraya, began kindergarten at Reed Elementary School. When she learned longtime board member Howard Block had decided against running for a third term in this year’s November election, Zolfaghari jumped at the opportunity. Zolfaghari won the four-year seat by default when no other candidates emerged. She’ll be officially sworn in at the board’s Dec. 11 meeting alongside incumbents A.J. Brady and Sherry Wangenheim, who each won new terms after running unopposed in the Nov. 6 election.
