Pauline Grace Beaudry Laurenson

Born January 18, 1931 and left this world December 23, 2018
Pauline Grace Beaudry Laurenson, 87, of Tiburon, California, passed away on December 23, 2018, at her home surrounded by her beloved husband, Charles P. Laurenson, and her large loving family.
Polly was born in Canton, Ohio, to the late Marjorie and Maurice Beaudry and lived there until 1961. She was married in the spring of 1953 to the love of her life, Chuck Laurenson, in Canton. They made their devotion to each other apparent in a million ways in the 65 years they were together, from making sure the toast was always buttered properly to signing every card to each other with ISALYS (I shall always love you, sweetheart). They raised a close-knit family and traveled the world together.
Polly’s home, filled with love, artistry, magical gardens, delicious meals, and laughter, was one of the many gifts she bestowed upon her family and friends. Her legacy lies in part with the gardens she inspired and her beloved succulents, whose cuttings thrive in many homes. She was a prolific watercolorist in her later years and
took joy in capturing the beauty of nature.
She lived by her middle name, Grace, with her kindness and warmth towards all whom she met. She was a strong believer in justice and opportunity for all. Her love for life was fierce.
Polly and Chuck raised their children primarily in the Midwest and retired to Tiburon in 1992. Of special importance to them was the annual summer family reunion held at their cabin on Lake Almanor. Polly found peace and a community there that she cherished.
In addition to Chuck, she is survived by her eight children: Kathryn Laurenson of Santa Rosa, Ca. (John Maitland); Ann Laurenson of Corte Madera, Ca. (Tyler Comann); Chuck Laurenson of Ashland, Ore.; Nancy Laurenson of Corte Madera, Ca.; Laura Foster of Atherton, Ca. (John Foster); Patricia Laurenson of Cambridge, England (Bill Schafer); Susie Laurenson of Corte Madera, Ca.; and David Laurenson of Chicago, Ill. (Melissa Laurenson).
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Sam, Joe, Henry, Kara, Pete, Annie, Hannah, Jack, Julia, Allie, Hailey, Luke, and Charlie; her sister, Nancy Bernhard; her brother, Gordy Beaudry; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Polly was preceded in death by her grandson Jesse and son-in-law Will Shipley, as well as two sisters, Ardythe Mulligan and Daurice Owens.
Polly is lovingly remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all.
A memorial will be held on February 9, 2019, at 2:00 PM at the Marin Art & Garden Center in Ross, Ca. In place of flowers, the family would be grateful for a donation to Canal Alliance (www.canalalliance.org) in San Rafael, Ca. or Feather River Land Trust (www.frlt.org) in Quincy, Ca.
