Belvedere gives early OK to Artist's View lane over neighbor objections
The Belvedere City Council gave preliminary approval last week to build a public lane at Artist’s View open space at the island’s southernmost tip — despite continued protests from a handful of neighbors who want the land to remain undeveloped for wildlife use and who have threatened to sue if the project moves forward. The council at its Aug. 12 meeting voted 4-0, with Vice Mayor James Campbell absent, to approve a Parks and Open Space Committee recommendation that Artist’s View be up next in the city’s public-lanes initiative.
