Tiburon Peninsula parents, kids find ways to manage amid uncertainty as schools close for power shut


Tiburon area schools shut down for three consecutive days early last week due to widespread power outages that left many parents and school staff with limited access to electronic communications. Reed Union School District officials initially only canceled classes for Monday, Oct. 28 — parents were notified the previous Friday morning — until Pacific Gas and Electric Co. released information over the weekend about a second shutoff that was expected to hit Marin County Oct. 29. The district then announced it, and all public schools in Marin, would be closed Oct. 29-30 and would then reassess whether they could reopen.
