Ryan wins seat on Town Council as election results are certified

Tiburon Town Council candidate Jack Ryan is the official winner of the Tiburon Town Council race, according to the final tally of votes in the March 3 presidential-primary election, and could be sworn in as early as this week. The results, certified by the Marin County Registrar of Voters April 2, show Ryan earned 36.7 percent of vote, beating out Planning Commissioners Daniel Amir and Kathleen Defever, who finished with 33 percent and 29.9 percent of the vote, respectively. Some 67.1 of Tiburon’s 6,508 registered voters cast a ballot in the race. That’s slightly lower than the overall countywide turnout, at 69.8 percent, on a presidential primary ballot that had Democratic voters choosing which candidate they’d like to see face President Donald Trump in November. By comparison, Marin’s turnout in the June 2016 presidential primary was 67.8 percent.
