Case is dismissed against ex-Belvedere man in 2019 boating death of son

Charges against a former Belvedere resident accused of killing his young son in a boating accident have been dismissed now that he has completed a court-ordered diversion program.


Javier Burillo was arrested in September 2019 after the powerboat he was piloting home from an outing to San Francisco struck a wake near Angel Island and threw his two sons overboard. The boat’s propellers struck both, killing his 11-year-old son, Grant, and injuring his 27-year-old.
