Commission: Tiburon Town Council should OK latest plan for housing

Tiburon’s revised housing element has a seal of approval from the town’s Planning Commission, albeit with a caveat for the Town Council to consider other approaches as a fail-safe to the controversial Paradise Drive site.

The 3-0 recommendation asks councilmembers to review the use of more accessory dwelling units and downtown housing to satisfy state mandates that Tiburon identify sites for at least 639 potential new units in the next eight years. The council is expected to approve and readopt the 2023-2031 housing element in some form when it meets Sept. 20 and then quickly resubmit it to Sacramento for 60-day review.
