The consultant designing a restoration project for two creeks that flood Tiburon’s Bel Aire neighborhood in heavy rain is advising against a proposed flood wall on one of them. The wall would push flooding into parts of the neighborhood that don’t flood now, the firm’s modeling found.
Officials delivered that update and detailed how work will proceed on the East and West creeks project during the July 28 Marin Flood Control District Zone 4 advisory board meeting, which featured only informational items and no votes.
The board also heard updates on a planned study addressing chronic flooding near Greenwood Cove Drive and a potential study evaluating levees near Strawberry Circle following tidal flooding in January.
The zone covers Tiburon’s Bel Aire neighborhood, parts of unincorporated Tiburon along Greenwood Cove Drive and homes along Strawberry Circle.
