The Belvedere City Council elected Vice Mayor Jane Cooper to serve as mayor for the coming year, while former Planning Commissioners Kevin Burke and Pat Carapiet were sworn into office after winning their two council seats uncontested in the November election.

The moves were part of the council’s Dec. 9 meeting, where Councilmember Sally Wilkinson was also sworn in for another term after being selected by her colleagues to be vice mayor.

Outgoing Mayor Peter Mark, who remains on the council, nominated Cooper to replace him, saying he was doing so “proudly and enthusiastically.”
