Daniel James Dillon
Daniel James Dillon was born on November 10, 1945, in Eureka, California, and on July 23, 2023, he completed his earthly journey from his home in Tiburon, California, where he had resided for 52 years. A compassionate soul, Daniel lived his life with humility and a distinct sense of humor that brought laughter to many. His wit was as sharp as a tack, often catching people off guard, yet always leaving them with a smile. Daniel was a man of faith, and in the words of St. Francis of Assisi, he truly embodied the essence of the prayer, “It is in giving that we receive.”
Daniel married the love of his life, Catherine, on September 17, 1970, in Edinburgh, Scotland. Together they raised a family, creating a home filled with love and laughter. Professionally, Daniel was a Certified Public Accountant, running his own successful practice for 40 years before retirement. His dedication to his craft was only surpassed by his love for his family, which was the center of his universe. He also found joy in his hobbies of fishing and reading, and he was an active member of The Post Club and SNAFU, a close-knit group of friends from his San Francisco days. His large group of friends included many immigrants from Ireland and the Isles. He also enjoyed working on his family history in Humboldt County with his nephew Chris, where the next generation will be the seventh.
Daniel leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will forever be remembered by his wife, Catherine; his children, Stephen Dillon and Theresa (Armando) Alvarenga; his sisters, Loise Hall and Kathleen Carrier; his nieces and nephews, Debbi Carpenter, Mark Hall, Tim Carrier, Chris Harris, and Ryan Harris; and his beloved grandchildren, Alexia, Sophia, Serenity, Noah, Cora, and Jane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Dillon and Lois Dever, and his sister, Janice Harris.
A memorial mass in honor of Daniel will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 2:00 pm at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 761 Hilary Drive, Tiburon, California, 94920. Services are under the direction of Adobe Creek Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In the spirit of Daniel’s love for sharing stories, we invite you to leave your memories of him and upload photos to his memorial page. In this way, we can all celebrate the life of this humble, witty, and compassionate man who touched so many lives.
