Everyday Encounters: A new couple bonds over their shared love of food

Tiburon residents Eric Hagerman and Alfiya Nachtigall say food is their shared love language.
The couple, who have been dating since August, say they enjoy date night at local restaurants such as Servino Trattoria, Malibu Farm and The Bungalow Kitchen, but they also love cooking together, with Hagerman turning up the heat in the kitchen.
He says he previously took classes at the now-closed Tante Marie’s Cooking School in North Beach to both improve his own cooking skill and to impress others.
“You can’t just show up and say, ‘What’s for dinner?’” Hagerman says as he and Nachtigall take Teddy, their 11-month-old cavapoo, for a walk at Shoreline Park on May 27. “You got to say, ‘Hey, look what I made!’”
