John (Tim) Collins

John Timothy (Tim) Collins, Jr. passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022, in Belvedere, California with his family by his side. He was 90 years old. He was born on June 19, 1932, in San Francisco, California, to John (Jack) Timothy Collins and Margaret (Peggy) Collins. He grew up in the Sea Cliff neighborhood and attended St. Monica School, École Notre Dame des Victoire, and St. Ignatius College Prepatory (class of 1950). He graduated from Stanford University in1954 and then served in the U.S. Army for three years before returning to Stanford for his MBA.

Tim worked in commercial real estate in San Francisco for over 40 years and served as a director of the San Francisco Real Estate Board. He was an active member and supporter of the Guardsmen. He moved to Belvedere in 1967 and enjoyed coaching his children in basketball and soccer there. Tim was a lifelong member of the Olympic Club, where he played the lake course hundreds of times.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Collins in 1969 and his wife, Katherine (Kitty) Sinclair Collins. He is survived by his son Jack Collins (Pilar), daughter Betsy Collins (John Gaunt), and grandchildren Jack and Blanca Collins and Benjamin Gaunt. At the deceased’s request, there will be no service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco or the cancer charity of your choice.
