Katherine Schwarberg Swan

Katherine “Kay” Schwarberg Swan died peacefully on March 29, 2022 in Pasadena, California, after a long illness. Born on November 25, 1930, in Pomona, California, to Howard S. Swan and Katherine Smith Swan, Kay graduated from Westridge School in Pasadena and then Pomona College, where she met and married her husband Clifford Schwarberg in 1952. They moved to Tiburon in 1971. During their 56 years of marriage, they raised three children — Lynn, Craig (who died in 2001), and Ann.

After Cliff’s death in 2009, Kay married Philip V. Swan (no relation) in 2013 and enjoyed several happy years until his death in 2017.

In addition to raising her children, during her lifetime Kay enjoyed volunteering for Westridge School, the College of Marin, and the San Francisco Symphony. She also served on the Session and sang in the choir at Calvary Presbyterian Church in San Francisco.

Kay is survived by daughters Lynn Lubbock (Craig) and Ann Gaillard (Lee), five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
