Mary Claire Doherty

Mary Claire Doherty was born in Chicago and attended St. Xavier College. She later joined TWA airlines as an airline hostess for five years during which she met John, her future husband. They had 50 wonderful years together. John was in the US Coast Guard and they lived in Hawaii, New York, Florida and Kodiak, Alaska, before settling in Tiburon in 1963. She loved to cook and had all the family for dinner every holiday. She enjoyed tennis at the Tiburon Peninsula Club for many years. Mary Claire is survived by her children, Owen (Maggie) Doherty of Paris, VA; Maureen Doherty (Ed Franco) of San Mateo; and Cathy (Bill) Ference of Santa Rosa; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband John, predeceased her in 2002, and her son John Jr. in 2020. A memorial service will be held at St. Hilary’s Catholic Church, followed by a reception.
