New leadership drives Tiburon Fire’s overhaul of strategic planning

The Tiburon Fire Protection District will spend $49,875 on its first strategic plan in 15 years as new leadership seeks to chart the agency’s direction amid a period of transition.

 

The board approved the contract with Fairfax-based consultant The People Piece in a 3-0 vote at its June 24 meeting, with members Joy Ho and Cheryl Woodford absent. Fire Chief Tommy Hellyer, who took over leadership in February after Chief Richard Pearce’s retirement, said the five-year plan should be completed by year’s end.

 

Hellyer selected The People Piece from three consulting firms after interviews and bid comparisons. Its Fairfax location offers “added accessibility and an understanding of our regional context,” he said, along with competitive pricing and organizational fit.
