Pick of the Week: John Kalleen Group plays Blue Note jazz at Old St. Hilary’s

The John Kalleen Group kicks off the fall season of monthly concerts at 4 p.m. Sept. 28 at Old St. Hilary’s Landmark in Tiburon. The quintet, led by trumpeter Kalleen, plays Blue Note-era jazz from the 1950s through ’70s. The style is named after the record label known for hard bop, post-bop and modernism. Tickets are $20-$25 in advance online or at the Landmarks Society office, $25-$30 at the door if not sold out. There is no parking at Old St. Hilary’s; a free shuttle leaves from in front of Rustic Bakery at The Boardwalk shopping center beginning 30 minutes before the show. 415-435-1853 or landmarkssociety.com.
