Pick of the Week: Tiburon Native American cultural festival Sunday

The inaugural Tiburon Native American Arts and Cultural Event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 17 in Zelinsky Park behind Town Hall. Organized by the Heritage and Arts Commission, with support from Tiburon’s Diversity Inclusion Task Force, the event will include storytelling, crafts, food for purchase and a live dance performance by Sewam American Indian Dance, which is co-directed by Tiburon residents Eddie Madril and his wife, Sara Moncada. Both are a part of the Yaqui peoples based in southern Arizona and northern Sonora, Mexico, and they teach in the American Indian Studies department at San Francisco State University.
