Pick of the Week: Pavement film with band founder Q&A, music at Cinelounge

ree

Cinelounge Tiburon will host a screening of the experimental musical documentary “Pavements,” with music and a Q&A with one of the film’s subjects, Spiral Stairs, at 4:30 p.m. July 20. Spiral Stairs, aka Scott Kannberg, started the band Pavement as a duo with front man Stephen Malkmus, his childhood friend. The film uses meta-narrative, telling the band’s story through a fake jukebox musical. Pavement released five albums between 1992 and 1999; Rolling Stone recognized three of them on its 2023 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time: “Slanted and Enchanted,” “Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain” and “Wowee Zowee.” Tickets are $30. 415-797-6976 or arkn.ws/spiralstairs.
