Saburo Kami

Dr. Saburo Kami passed away peacefully at 88 years old with family and caregivers in their Tiburon home of 50+ years. He obtained his DDS at Marquette University School of Dentistry after undergraduate studies at University of California, Berkeley in his hometown and birthplace. His junior year at Cal, he met his future bride and lifelong companion, Joyce Hirota Kami. He served as navy lieutenant and dentist at Camp Pendleton and began practicing dentistry in San Francisco with his father-in-law, and later with his eldest daughter. He cared for his patients for decades into his early eighties. He enjoyed golf, travel, hiking, tennis, skiing, bonsai care, Cal Bears, and time with his family. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years; three daughters, Cindy, Carolyn (Mark), and D.J.; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Kimi, Colin, Kimberly, Peter, and Charlie; three of five siblings and Calle girl. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, Hospice by the Bay and Tiburon Peninsula Foundation would graciously welcome support.
