Sharks water polo teams earn trips to Junior Olympics

The Tiburon Peninsula Central Marin Sharks Water Polo Club will be sending two teams to the 2021 USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics in Irvine next month.


At the Pacific Zone qualifying tournament June 11-13 in San Jose, the Sharks 12U coed team defeated Mountain View-based West Valley 19-4 to win the gold medal. At the same qualifier, the 14U boys also earned a berth at nationals. The Sharks entered the tournament ranked No. 20 of 27 teams, but went 4-3 to battle up to a 10th-place finish. The top 12 teams advanced.
