Strawberry launches fundraising for its new playground

The Strawberry Recreation District has begun asking residents to help pay for its new playground under a recognition schedule that would run from a $1,500 tile in a mosaic to naming rights over the playground itself.
The board approved a $2.4 million contract in July with playground company GameTime for a 12,799-square-foot play area off Belvedere Drive, centered on a climbable 20-foot-tall berry with two green slides for arms and bouncy footbridges. The district plans to break ground in 2027.
As drafted, donors who give less than $1,500 would be recognized on the district’s website. Above that the schedule offers permanent inscriptions on a bench, a picnic table, the park entry sign or a mosaic a local artist would make, rising to exclusive naming rights over the turf soccer field at $250,000 and over the playground at $500,000. Three levels are capped: 100 mosaic tiles, 10 benches and 10 picnic tables.
