Tiburon approves fourth attempt at housing plan

Amid neighbors’ calls to strip a controversial site from Tiburon’s eight-year housing roadmap, officials approved the town’s fourth attempt at getting its overdue housing element approved by California.

The Town Council voted 4-0 at its Sept. 20 meeting to readopt the latest revision to its 692-unit 2023-2031 housing element and submit it to the state’s Department of Housing and Community Development for 60-day review. Recently elected Councilmember Isaac Nikfar, who was sworn in during the same meeting, abstained.

Officials said they’re hopeful the new document will be approved, as objections from the state have gotten shorter and narrower.
