Tiburon chamber begins search for new leader as executive director announces departure

The Tiburon Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has begun the search for a new executive director after DeAnn Biss announced last week that she will step down from the role at the end of March.

Biss, who has led the chamber for more than five years, will stay on until March 31 to “ensure a smooth transition,” chamber board President Natale Servino wrote in a Jan. 29 letter to fellow board members. However, Biss said, the chamber hopes to hire her replacement by the end of February, in time for a Feb. 27 business owners’ reception the organization is hosting.

Biss, 53, said a mix of personal changes and new professional aspirations led to her decision to step down. She’ll be an empty nester this year, as the youngest of her two children turns 18 this month, and she wants to take some time off to figure out her next steps, plan “some needed travel” with her husband and explore volunteer opportunities beyond Tiburon, including at the national level.
