Tiburon Peninsula residents will pay slightly more for garbage, recycling and compost service beginning July 1.
Mill Valley Refuse is enacting a 2.2% rate hike for customers in Tiburon, Belvedere and Strawberry. The inflation-indexed increase is intended in part to help the company ensure fair driver wages and cover rising insurance and pension costs, CEO Gene Della Zoppa said.
Under the new rates, Tiburon residents will pay between $3.54 and $30.69 more on their quarterly bills, depending on the size and number of their cans, number of pickups and whether they live in a flat or hilly area, while quarterly bills in Belvedere will rise between $3.93 and $13.56 depending on the number and size of cans and the frequency of pickup.
Strawberry residents with a 32-gallon trash can will see their quarterly bill increase from $140.31 to $143.40, while those with 20-gallon garbage cans will see an increase from $122.28 to $124.98. Apartment curbside rates per unit for a 32-gallon trash can will increase from $42.74 to $43.68.
