Tiburon will begin soliciting bids for boulevard traffic study
A planned Tiburon traffic study will focus on three major arteries: Tiburon Boulevard from Blackfield Drive to Beach Road; Trestle Glen Boulevard between Tiburon Boulevard and Paradise Drive; and Paradise Drive between Main Street and Trestle Glen Boulevard.
The Town Council voted unanimously at its Jan. 18 meeting to direct town staff to begin soliciting bids from contractors. The study is intended to present solutions to traffic congestion in part by examining traffic patterns at Reed Union School District schools and St. Hilary Catholic School during peak pick-up and drop-off times. The project will also look at potential crosswalks and signal infrastructure along Tiburon Boulevard, with a staff report to the council highlighting residents’ requests for a crosswalk at the intersection of Tiburon Boulevard and Gilmartin Drive as an example.
Analysis of Caltrans’ 4.5-mile preventive maintenance project, scheduled to begin in spring 2026, will also be considered in the traffic study, as will the impact of Tiburon’s and Belvedere’s 2023-2031 housing elements.
