Tracy Ann Breuner Jaquier

Tracy Ann Breuner Jaquier was born in Sacramento in July of 1961, but soon after her parents moved to Orinda, CA, where she attended Glorietta Elementary, Inland Valley Intermediate (now Orinda Intermediate) and Miramonte High School. She enjoyed doing musicals, singing in the choir, and playing volleyball. During those years she was imbued with a deep love of California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. She loved jeeping and camping with cousins and friends around Lake Tahoe and her summers at Bob Matthias Sierra Camp near King’s Canyon National Park. Her love of camping, shooting, fishing, and taking long hikes endured throughout her life. Tracy was also at home behind the wheel of a boat, especially when cruising the west shore of Lake Tahoe in her father’s woody, the Barbara C.

After receiving a BA in Economics at UCLA, Tracy enjoyed embodying her yuppie years (her generation invented yuppies!) in San Francisco. One of her first accomplishments was introducing Wang personal computers to the stodgy world of insurance while at Industrial Indemnity. From there she moved to commercial real estate, finding financial analysis of prospective deals a perfect fit for her talents. It wasn’t long until she caught the eye of a fellow commercial real estate colleague while running with the Hash House Harriers in the evenings after work in San Francisco. In 1987, she married Guy Jaquier.

Starting a family while living in the Oakland Hills, Tracy gave up the working world for the family world. In 1994, she, Guy, her son, Will, and her daughter, Carly, moved to the island of Belvedere and never left. Dear friends from Orinda, UCLA, and San Francisco stayed in the mix and new parent friends entered as well, while she and her husband remained active in groups like the Junior League of San Francisco, the Guardsmen, the San Francisco Yacht Club, the Town and Country Club, and the Bohemian Club while their children grew up and attended schools in Marin and San Francisco. Tracy was an avid supporter of the Smuin Ballet and its astounding talent.

Not only interested in sophisticated city happenings, Tracy hosted major camping events, which included challenges to see who could create the most elaborate dinners in the mountains, as well as theme nights and costumes. Beloved by the families involved, preparations and planning for the next summer’s event would start on this year’s adventure.

Tracy further developed her love of running and set her sights on running a marathon. She ran the New York, Chicago, Amsterdam, and Paris marathons, eventually qualifying for the Boston Marathon three times. She later moved into running trail marathons like the Death Valley Trail Marathon and completed the Grand Canyon Rim-To-Rim run. Fitness was always a priority.

While raising her family, Tracy dabbled in helping individuals and small businesses establish their information technology needs. Later, being a retailer’s daughter, Tracy delighted in working at Sur La Table in Corte Madera, and her friends and family enjoyed her employee discount as she showered us with the latest and best cooking equipment. Once her husband was able to step back from work, she and Guy enjoyed traveling the world, meeting friends and enjoying special experiences in fascinating places.

Tracy will be remembered for her quick laugh, the joy she got from gatherings with family and friends, and her thoughtful cards and gifts. Tracy was happiest when she was able to host the extended family or friends to celebrate any occasion, and delighted and excelled in setting a beautiful table. To her great joy, Tracy became a mother-in-law in 2021 and 2023 and soon, a two-time grandmother. She loved seeing her kids grow into their lives and loved visiting her granddaughters. Tracy treasured all things holiday. Her legendary Christmas decorations were surpassed only by her love of Halloween and Independence Day and the USA in general. Her family finds it entirely fitting that she passed away peacefully on the Fourth of July. She will be remembered every year as the fireworks are lit.

Tracy is survived by husband Guy Jaquier; son Will Jaquier and wife Sammy; daughter Carly Jaquier and husband Peter Florin; granddaughters Lily and Olive; brother Steve Breuner; and sister Emily Jaquette. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Barbara (Carter) Breuner. A Celebration of Life honoring Tracy will be scheduled in the fall.
