Tiburon, other Marin fire agencies deploy phone app linking cardiac incidents to nearby help

With the help of a new smartphone application, Marin residents now have the ability to instantly find out what’s going on when they hear sirens in their neighborhood. The app, called PulsePoint, was launched across Marin on Feb. 14. It allows users to access real-time information about local fire and medical emergencies like car accidents, gas leaks and wildfires while also serving as a call-to-action for people trained to respond to certain medical crises, like cardiac arrest. It’s sponsored and funded by the Marin County Fire Department and the Marin County Fire Chiefs Association, and every fire agency in the county has adopted the app into use, including the Tiburon and Southern Marin fire protection districts.
