Tiburon OKs dual-stream recycling, to consider increase in garbage rates


Tiburon officials have authorized a switch to dual-stream recycling — requiring customers sort out clean paper products from other types of recyclables — but even with the cost-cutting measure, residents and businesses face a 4.01-percent increase in garbage and recycling pickup rates. The Tiburon Town Council voted unanimously at its May 15 meeting to authorize Mill Valley Refuse Service to make the recycling change, though the waste-collection company will still need buy-in from other Central and Southern Marin communities before it can make the transition.
