Marin's extended shelter order comes with new rules

A shelter-in-place order across six Bay Area counties, including Marin, has been extended to May 3 as cases of COVID-19 continue to skyrocket despite stringent mitigation efforts meant to keep the spread of the disease in check and avoid a crippling burden on hospitals. The extension, issued March 31, comes with updated restrictions, including a ban on most residential and commercial construction; new health and safety requirements for essential business; the closure of all playgrounds, dog parks, picnic areas and recreational facilities like tennis courts and golf courses; and bans on customer use of reusable items like shopping bags and coffee mugs.
