Some home gardeners have a gift for growing stunning dahlias; others can coax ripe tomatoes from the foggiest Tiburon microclimate. Longtime Bel Aire neighborhood resident Andrew Rusting is using his green thumb to cultivate one prodigious pumpkin. The gigantic gourd under the white tent in his Cecilia Way front yard is now over 600 pounds, Rusting estimates, but he says he hopes it will pack on another 100 pounds before Halloween, when it will give the neighborhood kids and their parents something to gawk at. “It’s for fun,” Rusting said. “It’s just a reason to make people smile a little.” (Elliot Karlan photo / For The Ark).
