Redwood High School sophomore Theo Trono has been named the baseball player of the year by the Marin County Athletic League, while five other local athletes received all-league honors.
Trono, who lives in Tiburon, played second base and batted leadoff for the Redwood Giants, who clinched the Marin County Athletic League title with a May 10 walk-off 6-5 win over San Marin. Trono’s .453 batting average and .590 on-base percentage, each ranked second in the county, helped the team finish with a 23-3 regular-season record, including a 14-2 record in county play. Theo played in all regular season games.
