Pizza Antica closes in Strawberry Village, lays off 43

Pizza Antica has closed its doors after 17 years at the Strawberry Village shopping center.

The small chain, operated by Bacchus Management Group, shut down its local outpost on Aug. 20. It laid off all 43 employees, according to its state-mandated Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing on July 26.

According to a copy of the full notice obtained by The Ark, the Roman-style pizzeria closed due to reduced foot traffic since the COVID pandemic, which Bacchus says has been exacerbated by recent changes at the center.
