Susan Hetherington

Susan Hetherington passed away New Year's Day 2018 after a long illness caused by Lewy-body disease, a form of Alzheimer's. She was well attended by her son Pete Campbell with visits from Jack Hetherington, her husband, and son Robert Campbell.

Susan was born May 11, 1944, in Los Angeles and lived in Chico for many years before moving to the Belvedere Lagoon, where she lived before going into assisted living five years ago. Susan was a single mother for much of her life and worked at Chico Medical Group before finally meeting Jack, getting married and moving to Marin County.

Susan was an amazing friend to many and will always be remembered as someone whose articulate commentaries could swing from insightful to humorous. Her sharp sense of humor always brought a smile to the faces of family and friends.

She leaves behind her two closest friends in Chico, Linda Cole and Kathy Sweeney, whose support and friendship throughout the years meant more to Susan than words could possibly express.

Susan had a deep love of animals and found great comfort and joy in her golden retrievers. Susan is remembered for starting the Concerts in the Park events in Belvedere in the summer of 1998, which have become outstanding events each year, well attended and looked forward to by the community.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Hetherington; her sons, Peter and Robert Campbell; her granddaughter, Julia Campbell; nieces and nephews Glenn Hansen, Mike Hansen, Julia Olsen, Laurie Olsen, and Kristi Reiner; and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Concerts in the Park, c/o Belvedere City Hall, 450 San Rafael Ave., Belvedere, CA 94920.
