Yvonne Schwarz, 89, a 50-year resident of Tiburon, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2018, at Timber Ridge in McKinleyville, California.
Yvonne was born in The Hague, Holland, in 1928 to Johannes Magito and Gertruida Spruyt.Until the approach of World War II, she lived a typical Dutch life. Things changed with the German invasion of Holland. Luckily, the German solider that was assigned to live in Yvonne’s house had a good soul, and she later befriended him and visited him in Germany with her son, Misha.
Yvonne married Ben Schwarz in 1956. In 1957, Yvonne and Ben moved to the United States. With $250 in their pocket, they drove from New York to San Francisco, where they had a sponsor. Yvonne and Ben lived in San Francisco, Mill Valley, and then moved to Tiburon in 1964, where they bought a house on Venus Court.
Yvonne enjoyed her 1968 ocean blue Camaro, was an avid tennis player and was involved with many Dutch organiza- tions. She mastered seven languages, with Russian being the last. Yvonne was always a great wife and mother. She is survived by her son, Misha Schwarz, of Arcata, California.
Yvonne bequeathed her remains to the University of California at San Francisco. Her ashes will eventually be scattered at sea.
At this time a celebration of life is not planned, but will be in the future. If you would like to be notified of a future celebration, please contact her son, Misha, at 707-599-6977 or misha. email@example.com.
