Tiburon council OKs higher roof for Caprice restaurant over neighbors’ protest

Despite objections from their next-door neighbor, the new owners of The Caprice will be able to add 37 square feet to the building and raise the restaurant’s roof by 12 inches — though the restaurant must move its heating and air-conditioning equipment on the roof farther away from the neighboring property and avoid bulky screening for the equipment. After more than two hours of discussion, the Tiburon Town Council at its Feb. 6 meeting voted 4-1 to conditionally approve the plans in an effort to appease both the restaurant’s owners, who councilmembers noted are making an investment to preserve the restaurant, and the owners of a neighboring triplex who complained about noise and view impacts.
