Belvedere may remove cap for construction fines


Belvedere officials are considering unlimited penalties on delinquent construction projects in an effort to speed up home builds that can sometimes stretch for years. Under the proposed ordinance change — most recently approved by a unanimous vote at the Planning Commission’s May 21 meeting — the city would delete the $300,000 upper ceiling for construction-time-limit penalties, meaning future projects could accrue fines up to $1,200 per day until construction is completed.
