Cops: Active investigation into Belvedere boy’s boating death is complete


Law enforcement officials say they concluded their active investigation into the September boating death of an 11-year-old Belvedere boy, and all information and evidence they’ve complied over the past two months has been handed over to the Marin District Attorney’s Office. However, it’s still undetermined whether the boy’s father, who was arrested in the incident, will face charges. Police say Javier A. Burillo, 58, a prominent land developer and Mexico media heir, was operating his boat while drunk on Sept. 15 when his two sons, 27 and 11, were thrown off and severely cut by the boat’s propellers, killing the 11-year-old and injuring the other.
